All-new Nissan NP300 Navara ready for action

Nissan’s stalwart Navara pick-up truck is back, complete with an all-new design and a class-leading loading bed.

Now dubbed the NP300 Navara, the newest version of the pick-up is due to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, before going on sale from January next year.

Co-developed with Mercedes and engineered for the European market, the NP300 Navara features a new design that mixes sporty and rugged elements, plus Nissan’s signature grille and LED lights.

On the inside, the cabin has been given a complete overhaul, with a new sculpted dashboard and special ‘Spinal Support’ front seats, which Nissan says has been part-inspired by NASA technology.

Interior features include dual-zone digital climate control, alongside new rear cab ventilation and seat designs, which Nissan says makes a more comfortable environment for passengers.

Other kit includes Nissan’s innovative Around View Monitor and Forward Emergency Braking systems, plus cruise control, keyless entry, a rear-view camera and parking sensors.

The new Double Cab version’s load bed is now 67mm longer than the previous model, with a maximum size of 1,788mm in length, which Nissan says is a sector-best loading length.

Outfitted with a reinforced bulkhead, the NP300 Navara also has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500kg, while a reduction in weight and new suspension delivers an improvement in ride quality.

Power comes courtesy of a single 2.3-litre diesel engine available in a choice of either 158bhp or 187bhp, while Nissan says that it’s 24 per cent more efficient than the engine it replaces.

From launch, the NP300 Navara will come with a choice of either six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearboxes, plus a choice of either two- or four-wheel drive.

Prices and full specs have yet to be announced, but it’s expected that more will be known upon the new Nissan NP300 Navara’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
