Aston Martin creates DB9 GT Bond Edition

Aston Martin has unveiled the ideal car for James Bond fans, the DB9 GT Bond Edition.

Based on the DB9 GT sports car revealed earlier this year, the Bond Edition has been created to commemorate the 50 year partnership between Aston Martin and the James Bond film franchise. It also marks the premiere of the next Bond film, SPECTRE, which is released next month and features the Aston Martin DB10, which was created for this movie.

While there’s no indication Aston Martin will sell any DB10s, the British manufacturer will build 150 examples of the new DB9 GT Bond Edition. They are available for order now and are priced at £165,000, which is £25,000 more than a regular DB9 GT.

Like the standard Aston Martin DB9 GT, the Bond Edition uses a 541bhp 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine, linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox. It can cover the 0-62mph sprint in a mere 4.5 seconds and the top speed is 183mph.

For £25,000 more than the standard DB9 GT, you’ll own a far more exclusive car with some unique styling features, such as the Spectre Silver exterior paint job. Discreet ‘007 Bond Edition’ badges can also be found on the exterior.

Other add-ons include a gun barrel embroidery on the rear seats, numbered sill plaques with the 007 logo and a Bond-themed start-up screen for the touchscreen infotainment system.

Buyers of the DB9 GT Bond Edition also get some jewellery in the form of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m James Bond Limited Edition watch. It even comes complete with a unique Aston Martin strap.

Though the Aston Martin DB9 GT Bond Edition is aimed at 007 enthusiasts, it is lacking certain features cars tend to have in those films. Onboard guns, bulletproof armour and an ejector seat are sadly absent.
