Aston Martin unveils most powerful DB9

Aston Martin has revealed a new GT special edition of its DB9 sports car, available for both coupe and convertible Volante body styles. Available to order now, the DB9 GT is priced from £140,000 and deliveries start this September.

The Aston Martin DB9 was launched all the way back in 2004 and will be replaced next year by an all-new sports car. To give the seasoned DB9 a fitting send-off, Aston Martin has created this new GT special edition which the manufacturer describes as ‘the ultimate in bespoke grand touring’. It costs £5,000 more than a standard DB9.

This is the most powerful version ever of the DB9, featuring a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine, producing 541bhp. Utilising a six-speed automatic gearbox, the DB9 GT can go from zero to 62mph in just 4.5 seconds, a tenth of a second less than a standard DB9. The top speed is unchanged from the standard DB9 at 183mph.

The GT also brings some unique design features to the DB9, including a black front splitter and rear diffuser, 20-inch alloy wheels with ‘GT’ branding and redesigned headlights and taillights. Customers also have the option of adding a carbon fibre finish around the taillights, front splitter and rear diffuser.

Interior upgrades for the DB9 GT include GT-branded leather seats, an updated touchscreen infotainment device and an Alcantara steering wheel with a design inspired by the Aston Martin One-77 hypercar.

Aston Martin will show off the new DB9 GT to the public at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Look out for our extensive coverage at Goodwood later this week.
