Audi Q7 gets new engine and extra specs

Audi has added a new engine to its Q7 luxury crossover range alongside a range of new specification and equipment options to boost appeal and lower consumption.

The new engine, a 215bhp version of the existing 268bhp 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 already in the range, is available with SE and S Line trims, priced from £47,755 and £51,250 respectively.

Undercutting the previous entry-level choice by around £3,000, the Q7 with the new engine is available to order now, with first deliveries in the UK expected to arrive with buyers by October.

Audi claims that the new engine can deliver fuel economy upwards of 49mpg with CO2 emission as low as 148g/km, while it can also cover the 0-62mph sprint in 7.3 seconds, with a 134mph top speed.

Buyers can now also specify a range of extras for the Q7, including adaptive air suspension which was previously available only as part of the Dynamic Pack, but which can now be bought separately.

Alongside the standard quattro all-wheel drive, the new Q7 is also available with segment-exclusive all-wheel steering, which turns the front and rear wheels in opposite directions at low speeds.

According to Audi, this can reduce the Q7’s turning circle by as much as one meter, increasing manoeuvrability at low speeds and steering response when the car’s travelling faster.

Other options include upgrades for the 8.3-inch infotainment system, high-quality BOSE and Bang & Olufsen audio systems, plus two detachable 10-inch touchscreens for the back seats.

Audi’s virtual cockpit, which replaces the analogue dials with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, is also available either individually or as part of a pack which also includes a heads-up display and in-car Wi-Fi.

Finally, buyers can also specify optional Matrix LEDs, which automatically react to oncoming traffic, a choice of Nappa leather or Alcantara seat upholstery and a range of driver assistance systems.

The Audi Q7 is available to buy now, priced between £47,755 and £53,835, while the Q7 with new 215bhp engine can be ordered now ahead of first deliveries this October.
