Audi RS5 re-enters the market with stylish Sportback variant

A stylish five-seat variant now makes Audi’s hot RS5 more appealing than ever.

Audi has announced that order books are now open for its RS5 Coupe, while the eagerly-awaited Sportback variant joins the range for the first time.

Following complications with WLTP – a new way of testing a car’s efficiency – which saw several German performance models last year (including many Audis) temporarily removed from sale, the firm is bringing its new emissions-compliant RS5 back to the UK.

Alongside the relaunched Coupe variant, Audi is also offering a more practical five-door Sportback variant for the first time. The latter variant was first unveiled in March 2018, but with the model being prioritised for the US, there has been a delay on arrival in the UK for this more practical RS5 version.

The two models will be offered exclusively in ‘Audi Sport Edition’, with just 250 of both the Sportback and Coupe coming to the UK in 2019.

Audi Sport Edition models benefit from larger 20-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, gloss back accents and a sportier exhaust system. As for the cabin, the models feature RS super sports seats trimmed in Nappa leather and Alcantara, along with black interior inlays and a panoramic glass sunroof.

This is on top of the already comprehensive standard equipment list for both models, which includes full LED lighting, a digital cockpit and a full smartphone interface, to name but a few features.

The Audi RS5’s 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine remains – producing 444bhp and 600Nm of torque, which allows for a 0-60mph sprint of just 3.9 seconds on both variants.

Both the RS5 Coupe and Sportback are available to order now, and are priced identically at £68,895. First deliveries are expected later in the month.
