Audi’s new TT RS boasts supercar-rivalling performance

Audi has revealed the new range-topping RS model for its TT sports car at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. Boasting 395bhp and a benchmark sprint time below four seconds, the Audi TT RS has the pace to rival most modern-day supercars.

Boosted performance

Expected to go on sale this autumn in both coupe and roadster forms, the Audi TT RS uses a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Power is sent to all four wheels via a Quattro powertrain and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also utilised.

The coupe version of the new TT RS will be able to sprint from zero to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds, which is just two tenths of a second slower than the latest standard Audi R8.

The TT RS Roadster’s 0-62mph sprint time has yet to be confirmed but Audi reportedly claims it also takes less than four seconds.

New exterior highlights

Design differences with the new RS compared to other TT models includes the large diffuser built into the rear, a rear wing which can be optionally removed free of charge and optional matrix LED headlights plus optional organic light emitting diode (OLED) for the taillights.

The options list also features forged alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and a RS Sports suspension system. The latter utilises adaptive magnetic control damping to manage its steel springs, enhancing the car’s handling.

The interior of the RS, which is much like other TT models, features a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display screen behind the steering wheel plus lightweight sports seats.
