Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series announced

The Design Series has been developed by Bentley’s exclusive Mulliner division

Bentley’s luxurious Bentayga SUV has just gone further upmarket with the launch of a new Design Series special edition.

Based on the V8 petrol Bentayga – said to be the most dynamic variant of the model – the Design Series has been to Mulliner, which is essentially the British manufacturer’s bespoke division that can tailor cars specifically for customers.

Key Mulliner features include large ‘Paragon’ grey alloy wheels and self-levelling wheel badges, which mean that the branded wheel caps stay fixed in the centre, rather than rotating with the wheel.

As for the cabin, the Design Series comes with a colour-themed interior, which features a new gloss finish carbon-fibre weave and a new ‘Duotone’ two-tone leather colour palette. A coloured accent line also extends through the cabin on the special edition Bentayga – as seen with the red highlights in the model pictured below.

The Design Series comes as standard with the Bentayga Blackline package, which includes a body-coloured lower front bumper and gloss black exhaust pipes. The typical array of special edition Design Series badges are also dotted throughout.

The aforementioned ‘Duotone’ leather comes with the option of four themes – red, orange, white and blue – which are all based around the ‘Beluga’ black leather hide.

The Bentayaga V8 features a powerful 4.0-litre unit producing 542bhp and 770Nm of torque. Despite its weight, the engine can propel the SUV from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds, and keep going on to a top speed of 180mph.

Aside from the Design Series, the Bentayga is offered with Bentley’s trademark 6.0-litre W12 petrol engine as well as an upcoming plug-in hybrid model featuring a 3.0-litre V6 paired to an electric motor. It’s the Crewe-based manufacturer’s first hybrid model in Bentley's 100-year history.

Since going on sale in 2016, the Bentayga has now become Bentley’s best-selling model, with the rise of the SUV showing no signs of slowing down.
