Bentley introduces V8 engine to Bentayga line-up

Packing a 542bhp punch, the premium SUV comes with some new exterior features, while the optional carbon brakes are the largest front brakes in the world.

Premium British manufacturer Bentley has decided to beef up the performance of the Bentayga SUV by adding a V8 engine option.

The 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged petrol engine produces 542bhp and 770Nm of torque, meaning a 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 180mph.

It isn’t the most efficient or emissions-friendly engine in the world though, as it guzzles fuel at a quoted 24.8mpg and emits 260g/km of CO2 emissions.

With the increased performance, Bentley will fit the V8 versions with exclusive exterior features, such as a chrome and black grille and ‘twin-quad’ exhaust tailpipes.

Bentley can also fit the optional carbon brakes system, which include the largest front brakes available on any road car.

The unique features continue inside, with Bentley offering a carbon-fibre finish on the surfaces and a wood and hide three-spoke steering wheel – both of which are firsts for the brand. A new Cricket Ball red leather upholstery option is now also available.

The Bentayga comes with Bentley Dynamic Ride that uses a 48V electrical system to control the active roll setup that helps prevent much body roll through the corners. It also uses adaptive air suspension that can be calibrated depending on the driving conditions and a drive dynamic system that can come with the optional all-terrain system.

Coming with adaptive cruise control, predictive cruise control – which uses the sat-nav, GPS and traffic data to suggest the correct speed – and traffic assist, the Bentayga V8 is built to take on long distances.

Prices and delivery dates are yet to be announced.
