Yes, it’s that time of the year again when people decide to play practical jokes on everyone – it’s April Fools.
Car manufacturers are adept at producing some wacky new ideas every year that just seem a bit too good to be true, and 2019 is no different.
Here are our favourites…
Fiat Hawaii edition
It's been 10 years since ‘The Inbetweeners’ first graced our screens, so we’ve decided to release a special-edition Fiat Panda Hawaii! The classic Hawaii yellow body and Pasadoble Red door will get you and your ‘fwends’ all the stares. #FiatUK #Fiat #TheInbetweeners pic.twitter.com/N1claYYAmJ

On the 10thanniversary for our favourite show full of sweary teenage antics, Fiat has revealed the Hawaii edition for its Panda. Commemorating the Cinquecento driven by Simon from ‘The Inbetweeners’, Fiat has made this special edition version that provides customers with a pre-dented red door, a cassette player and a free day ticket to Thorpe Park – the perfect car for a new teenage driver.
To serve a new generation of Australian workers on the road, we’ve taken our iconic transit van to a new level. Meet the All-New HiAce Convertible, the first ever of its kind. Available with an optional pie oven, the PieAce, the HiAce Convertible is a game changer. pic.twitter.com/j35mMtb3xG

What’s better than a convertible people carrier with seating for seven? One that has a pie oven in the back of course. Toyota Australia has decided to take the roof off the ludicrously practical HiAce and also realised that the boot really wasn’t that essential – instead going for a quality pie-baking facility. Sublime but ridiculous.
Land Rover’s remotest charging point
EVs will be everywhere in the next decade or so – and Land Rover is preparing for that eventuality by fitting the world’s most isolated electric charging point ever. 15 miles away from the nearest road and up quite a steep hill on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, the charging point is perfect for replenishing the batteries of the plug-in Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models halfway through an off-road excursion.
Customisable puddle lights from Skoda
Thanks to Dr Ivor Tüchskreen SKODA has unveiled its latest Simply Clever solution with the ProjectaPal LED reminder system. Upload a message to greet you when you open the door, or even a fav pic from your smartphone and the car does the rest. https://t.co/mrcfX4lJMF#fool pic.twitter.com/ur72nCjq3J

Forget something on your journey? Well, the Simply Clever Czechs from Skoda have come up with customisable puddle lights – providing a personalised message or picture every time you step out the car. Called the ProjectaPal, the system can be set to reminders so you don’t forget something when you end your journey, as well as provide a friendly face when you get home. It may be fake, but we’d like it to be real.

If solar power wasn’t good enough, BMW is now looking to harness the light of the moon with its new ‘photovoltaic’ paint. Fitted to its i8 hybrid sports car, the paint can recharge the batteries overnight, meaning you don’t have to mess around with plugging the car in every night.
