BMW brings racier look to X3 M and X4 M with Performance Parts catalogue

Sporty styling extras aim to give the SUVs extra flair.

Hot in the heels of the recent unveiling of the X3 and X4 M, BMW has announced a number of ‘M Performance Parts’ for its two new SUVs.

Most of the sporty extras are handmade from carbon fibre, with highlights including a carbon fibre radiator grille, side air vents and door sill finishers.

Buyers can also choose to have a gloss black roof spoiler on the X3 M, or a rear fin on the X4 M, along with the stylish livery that aims to draw a comparison to BMW’s racing cars. ‘M’ puddle lights can also be chosen, which show up most vividly at night.

The tweaks don’t end at the exterior though, as the interior can be chosen with an ‘M Performance Pro’ steering wheel, which is made of carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara, and also features a central blue marker on the steering wheel and red shifters on the side of it. Additional velour ‘M’ floor mats can also be bought.

An Alcantara key case and wheel bags for the large 21-inch M Performance alloy wheels round off the list of extras available on the two hot SUVs.

Though the M Performance Parts catalogue doesn’t extend to mechanical improvements, the X3 and X4 M Competition are no slouches — as both use a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 503bhp and 600Nm of torque, allowing for a 0-60mph time of just 3.9 seconds.

UK prices for the M Performance Parts are yet to be announced but are likely to be revealed closer to the first customer deliveries of the X3 and X4 M Competition — set to start in September.
