BMW unveils new Z4 roadster

After the concept was first shown at Pebble Beach last year, BMW has used the same location to reveal the production version.

BMW has taken the covers off the new version of the Z4 roadster, two years after the last model was taken out of production.

Revealed in M40i First Edition guise, the Z4 was unveiled in the same place as the concept was last year at the Pebble Beach Councours d’Elegance – hosted at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.

Displayed in a Frozen Orange metallic paint, the M40i model includes M Performance features, such as the mesh dark kidney grille, sharper edges to the front spoiler and a rear lip spoiler on the boot lid.

Under the bonnet is a straight-six petrol engine that produces 335bhp and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission – meaning the M40i can go from 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds.

As a limited run model in the First Edition trim, this Z4 comes with a silver effect grey textile folding roof to contrast the bright paintwork, bicolour 19-inch alloy wheels and black mirror caps. LED headlights with matrix high beam function are also fitted.

Inside, the Z4 comes with black leather upholstery, a head-up display that works alongside the Live Cockpit Professional instrument display, the iDrive infotainment system and a Harmon Kardon surround sound system.

The full specification of the Z4 range will be revealed on September 19, before the standard model gets its public debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 4. The 2019 Z4 will go on sale in Spring 2019.
