BMW X2 range expands with new ‘M Mesh Edition’

The new SUV grade gains a host of unique styling elements

BMW has expanded the range of its X2 SUV with a bold special model known as the ‘M Mesh Edition’.

While first revealed in 2020, the German firm has now confirmed its introduction to the UK, with order books now open.

Styling changes include a fully gloss black grille, which comes in a new mesh pattern – hence the name. It also gains new inserts in the bumpers, while the plastic cladding is finished in a matte black-brown finish. A unique set of 19-inch alloy wheels are also fitted, which can be upgraded to a larger 20-inch design as an option.

The gloss black theme continues elsewhere, with the window trim surrounds, mirrors and B- and C-pillars also getting this finish, while the exhaust tips receive a black chrome look.

On the cabin, the M Mesh Edition brings black leather upholstery, grey contrast stitching and illuminated door entry sells. Standard kit elsewhere includes LED headlights and an 8.8-inch touchscreen system.

Despite being a special edition, this new version remains available with the full suite of engines from the standard X2, including petrol, diesel and even a plug-in hybrid option. The latter combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and battery to produce a total of 217bhp, while being able to travel on electricity for up to 35 miles.

The new X2 M Mesh Edition is priced from £34,510, with first deliveries expected in March.
