Check out the BMW X2 concept

BMW has given fans an early preview of the new X2 crossover via a new concept, which you can check out here.

BMW has revealed a concept for an all-new compact crossover called the X2 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. As the name suggests, it will slot in between BMW’s X1 and X3 SUVs and the production version will reportedly arrive during the second quarter of 2018. Pricing is estimated to start at around £30,000 when it launches.

The latest in a long-line of niche German crossover SUVs, the X2 concept has some eye-catching design features which really make it stand out next to other BMW SUVs. The car has been designed to essentially serve as a sportier alternative to the X1.

Featuring a unique take on the BMW kidney-shaped grille, plus laser light headlamps and a low, swooping roofline, the X2’s sporty vibe is easy to spot. The X2 concept gets distinct 21-inch alloy wheels as well, although whether they’ll carry over to production models remains to be seen.

Engines for the BMW X2 are likely to include a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol unit and a 2.0-litre turbodiesel, which is already available on other current BMWs and offers outputs of 148bhp, 187bhp and 227bhp.

A six-speed manual and six-speed automatic are likely gearbox options and rear-wheel and four-wheel drive powertrains are also likely to be included for the production X2.
