Citroen C4 Cactus convertible rumoured for Frankfurt

Rumours suggest that Citroen will reveal a convertible concept based on the C4 Cactus at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Citroen will introduce a concept for a convertible version of its quirky C4 Cactus at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, according to numerous online reports.

Among the cars Citroen is planning to display at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show is one called the Cactus M Concept.

Citroen has already teased this car by publishing a press image showing a surfboard receiving a spray paint job. Although though no actual car is shown in this image, it does imply that the Cactus M Concept will feature a surfboard rack.

Very little has been revealed about the concept besides this image, but Citroen has said that as well as being “bold and creative” it “revisits the spirit of the legendary Citroen Mehari”.

The Mehari was a utility off-road vehicle based on the French manufacturer’s 2CV. It had a very distinctive, lightweight design (including a fabric roof and no conventional doors) and vibrant paint colour choices. Introduced over 45 years ago, the Mehari is one of the most iconic cars from Citroen’s history, alongside the likes of the 2CV and original DS.

Engines for the Cactus M Concept could include the 108bhp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, which currently features for the C4 Cactus on sale now.
