Dacia Duster gains a new entry-level engine option

The new TCe 100 engine is priced from £10,995 — making it the most affordable new SUV on sale.

Dacia has bolstered its affordable Duster range with a new entry-level engine to enhance its appeal.

This new powerplant is a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine producing 99bhp and 260Nm of torque, replacing the previous range-starting naturally-aspirated SCe 115 engine.

Though this unit sees a slight decrease in power, it offers 66 per cent more torque while also drastically improving efficiency – now returning up top 49.6mpg, with CO2 emissions weighing in at just 116g/km.

Thanks to this engine, the Duster is the most affordable new SUV on the market, with prices starting from £10,995 — topping out at just £13,995 for the Comfort grade model.

The TCe 100 will be offered alongside the existing 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines – the TCe 130 and TCe 150 – along with 1.5-litre Blue dCi 115 diesel option.

While not offered on this entry-level model, Dacia is also offering currently marketing a limited edition Techroad version of its Duster. This special variant features unique side decals, along with grey and red seat upholstery and unique paint colours.

So far this year the Duster has been Dacia’s best-selling model, with sales up by 89 per cent compared with 2018.

Almost 10,000 Dusters have been registered since the second-generation model went on sale in July 2018. That’s surely set to improve drastically with this new TCe variant, which is now on sale.
