Evoque Convertible will be 'world's most capable soft-top'

More than just a pretty face, Range Rover has put its all-new Evoque Convertible through a serious of rigorous tests to showcase its off-roading abilities.

Ahead of its debut in November, Land Rover is keen to stress that the Evoque Convertible is every bit as capable on and off road as the regular Range Rover series, in spite of its soft-top design.

Mike Cross, Land Rover chief engineer, said: “Land Rover prides itself on being a class leader when it comes to all-terrain capability and the Evoque Convertible is no different.

“Thanks to a combination of innovative engineering and the application of advanced technologies, Evoque Convertible will deliver a dynamic and assured SUV experience that has been tested around the world.”

Rumours of a drop-top Evoque had done the rounds for years until Land Rover officially confirmed that it will join the range alongside the existing models at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

Specifications have yet to be confirmed, but it will feature four-wheel drive and is likely to be similar if not identical to the specification list for the regular Evoque series, which was recently facelifted.

LED adaptive headlamps, new wheel designs and a new eight-inch InControl infotainment system are all new features on the updated Evoque that could carry over to the Convertible.

Jaguar Land Rover’s new range of turbocharged Ingenium diesel engines, which are available on the current Evoque line-up are also likely to make an appearance in the Convertible as well.

Due to make its public debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show next month, the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible will go on sale in the UK from Spring next year.
