Facelifted 2020 Audi RS4 unveiled

The new model benefits from revised styling and an upgraded interior.

Audi has revealed the facelifted version of its RS4, which features subtle updates to enhance the firm’s most affordable RS-branded estate car.

Following in the footsteps of the recently unveiled RS6 and updated A4, Audi will publicly unveil the revised RS4 at this weekend’s DTM race in Hockenheim.

The RS4’s famed 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine remains, producing 444bhp and 600Nm of torque. This makes it able to accelerate 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph, or 174bhp with the RS dynamic package. While it likely won’t make any difference to those buying, Audi is claiming that engine revisions make the model 17 per cent more efficient than before.

Outside, the changes include  r front grille, new LED lights at the front and rear, while the more expensive Matrix LEDs come with a more distinctive signature. Wider wheel arches, a sports exhaust with larger exits and gloss black styling make it stand out from the regular A4.

Inside, the RS4 benefits from the same updates as the regular A4, with a new 10.1-inch touchscreen replacing the previous MMI display that was controlled by a rotary dial. It also comes with an RS-specific interior with sportier front seats, additional leather and Alcantara, along with RS-specific dials in the Virtual Cockpit. These can display g-force readings, along with lap times – should you find yourself on a track.

Order books for the new model will open later this month, with the upgraded RS4 Avant arriving in showrooms in December – a perfect time to utilise the quattro all-wheel-drive system. Expect a price rise over the outgoing car’s £67,585 starting price.
