Ferrari 488 Pista leaked before Geneva Motor Show debut

Ferrari 488 Pista unveiled before Geneva Motor Show debut

The souped-up version of the Italian supercar comes with a 710bhp twin-turbocharged V8 and a racing-inspired body.

Following in the footsteps of the previous flagship models, Ferrari has unveiled its top-end version of its 488 supercar that will be publically unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

Called the 488 Pista, it comes with motorsport-inspired design tweaks, a lower kerb weight of 1,230kg and more power than the ‘standard’ 488 GTB – 50bhp more in fact.

That means the 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine fitted to the Pista produces 710bhp and 770Nm of torque, which catapults the car from 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 211mph.

Like its predecessors – the 360 Challenge Stradale, the 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale – the 488 Pista comes with a unique paint job, with the Scuderia red paired to white and blue stripes down the centre.

Exterior changes over the GTB include a dolphin-tail rear spoiler, an F1-inspired S-duct on the front end, redesigned underbody vortex generators and a new rear diffuser – all of which have been added to further improve the model’s downforce. It also comes with an Inconel exhaust system to make the Pista even louder than the ferocious 488.

With adaptive drive settings so that drivers can alter the feel and set-up of the car through the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, the Pista sits on specially engineered Michelin tyres to complete the setup.

Inside the Pista is as you would expect with other Ferrari supercars – sports seats, the hexagonal-like sports steering wheel and driver-focused cockpit, although more details will be released when the car is publically unveiled in Geneva.

The Pista joins the GTB and Challenge models in the current 488 line-up.
