Ferrari California T gets new handling upgrade package

Ferrari is offering the option of a new handling upgrade package for the California T to sharpen its performance for a sportier feel.

The Handling Speciale (HS) package offers a range of new and specific revisions to the twin-turbo grand tourer’s chassis setup and powertrain to lend a little extra edge at speed.

Maranello’s engineers have tweaked the car’s springs to be 16 per cent stiffer at the front and 19 per cent at the rear, which Ferrari says improves body control with less roll in the corners.

Damper settings have likewise been revised, and while the marque admits that some of the car’s ride comfort suffers, it reports a marked increase in on-road feedback.

Revised suspension, gearbox plus new exhaust

The car’s Sport mode has also been revised, with the optional seven-speed automatic gearbox now capable of faster and punchier gear shifts and the HS package also comes witha louder exhaust.

Additionally, the California T’s traction control system has been given a light reworking to account for the car’s livelier nature, allowing drivers to make better use of its power out of the corners.

Ferrari has also given HS packaged-equipped California T a slight aesthetic upgrade with a new matte black finish for the front grille and rear diffuser, plus a special plaque to denote its status.

Prices for the Handling Speciale package has yet to be announced, but according to Ferrari the new option will be available following the Geneva International Motor Show in March.
