Ferrari to auction final LaFerrari for earthquake victim relief this week

Earlier this year, Ferrari announced that it would build one final LaFerrari coupe which would be auctioned off to raise funds for victims of this year’s earthquakes in Italy.

The last LaFerrari will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's at the upcoming Finali Mondiali event at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida on December 3rd. All proceeds will go directly to the National Italian American Foundation’s earthquake relief fund.

When Ferrari first unveiled the LaFerrari, its latest and arguably greatest car to date, it vowed that it would only build a maximum of 499 examples of the stunning hybrid hypercar.

However, company boss Sergio Marchionne announced that Ferrari would break its own rules just once to build a special 500th model, specifically to aid the victims of the 6.2 magnitude earthquakes.

To further boost its appeal and make it stand out from the ‘regular’ LaFerrari, the final 500th model will boast a one-of-a-kind paint scheme and interior, along with a special commemorative plaque.

So far, the string of earthquakes to hit the country has claimed the lives of hundreds of people, and it’s hoped that given the circumstances and the rarity of the car that it’ll fetch a high price at the auction.

In September this year, Ferrari also officially unveiled for the first time the upcoming LaFerrari Aperta, a convertible version of the hypercar with the same 950bhp power output.

While the final LaFerrari will put the total number of coupes made at 500, only 150 LaFerrari Apertas will be built, every single one of which sold out long before it was officially unveiled.
