Ferrari has unveiled its new Roma coupe as a further addition to the Prancing Horse’s ever-growing line-up of models.
The Roma – named after the Italian city of Rome – is based on the same platform as the glamorous Portofino convertible, and is Ferrari’s fifth new model this year, following the F8 Tributo, F8 Tributo Spider, 812 GTS and the hybrid SF90 Stradale.
This new grand tourer boasts a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 engine producing 612bhp and 76-Nm of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Despite being the entry point into Ferrari coupe ownership, it’s still capable of some astonishing performance figures – 0-60mph taking just 3.2 seconds, along with a claimed top speed of 199mph.
The long bonnet is a hallmark of classic Ferrari GTs and features sleek bodywork and short rear overhang.
To maintain grip at higher speeds, the Roma has a rear spoiler that automatically deploys, but is then ushered away once again into the bodywork at lower speed.
Four seats cement the Roma as a true GT model, while the model is also a showcase of technology. A 16-inch digital instrument cluster is fitted as standard in place of traditional dials, while a further 8.4-inch touchscreen is included, too.
No pricing has yet been confirmed, though it looks to be a series-production model rather than a limited-edition affair. First deliveries are expected towards the end of 2020.
