Ferrari wins the Red Dot Best of the Best design award again

For the third year running, Ferrari have picked up Red Dot's Best of the Best design award 2017 for its J50 model.

Ferrari has won the Red Dot Best of the Best award for the third year running, this time for its limited-edition J50 model.

Measuring each car on expression of design quality and ground-breaking design features, the annual product design competition’s judges found that the bespoke J50 should take the podium.

This two-seater, mid-rear-engined roadster was built to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari in Japan and judges found the “radically futuristic design language” very appealing.

Only 10 examples of the car will be built in the spirit of Ferrari’s fuori serie tradition, and buyers will have their J50 tailored to their specific requirements.

Based on the 488 Spider, the car is powered by a custom 3.9-litre V8 that also gained accreditation as the International Engine of the Year.

Ferrari gained Red Dot distinctions for a variety of other models during the awards ceremony including the GTC4Lusso, LaFerrari Aperta and 458 MM Speciale.
