Fiat Panda Waze special edition revealed

The Panda Waze unsurprisingly features Waze navigation technology, with Fiat labelling the model “the most social city car ever”.

Fiat has unveiled its new Panda Waze which has been developed in conjunction with the firm’s aftersales division Mopar.

The Panda Waze features the popular navigation app integrated into the car’s system through the “Panda Uconnect” app.

Waze has grown to become one of the most popular navigation apps, thanks to its real-time traffic information which allows for routes to be changed throughout journeys in order to save time. Over 100 million people use the app worldwide. As well as navigation, it can also tell you where to find the cheapest fuel prices.

The Panda Waze has been developed by Mopar, which is the FCA Group’s after-sales products and services provider.

The Panda Uconnect app works across Android and Apple devices, and is used alongside the car’s own infotainment system in a similar way to how Android Auto and Apple CarPlay operate. The app also features “MyCar”, which keeps tabs of features such as when the car needs servicing, a digital handbook of the car and direct calls to Fiat if needed.

It’s based on the Cross model – a two-wheel-drive jacked-up crossover version of the standard Panda. As well as exterior Waze logos, the car has 15-inch wheels, air-conditioning, steering wheel controls, tyre pressure sensors and remote locking fitted as standard, while it’s available exclusively with a 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine.

The Panda has been the most popular city car across Europe since 2003, with it and the firm’s 500 city car accounting for a European city car market share of 28.4 per cent. To celebrate the new special edition, Fiat also broke a new record at the weekend by bringing together 365 Pandas in the Italian commune of Pandino, with 200 being used in the stunt pictured above.

No prices have been announced for the model, although it’s expected to reach dealerships from August.
