Five cool features you didn’t know are on the new Ford Puma…

We take a look at some of the most appealing bits of kit on this hotly-anticipated crossover.

One of the most anticipated cars of 2020 has arrived — and there’s a lot to like about it.

We’re of course talking about the new Ford Puma. An iconic name reborn as a stylish crossover, the new Puma isn’t lacking when it comes to looks, strong powertrains and impressive levels of equipment.

With so much going on with this car, it’s easy to have missed out on the knowledge of some of the excellent features it offers. Here, we aim to plug those gaps by picking out five of the coolest features you may have not realised the Ford Puma offers…

Megabox

Just to be clear, Megabox may sound like it but this isn’t the Transformer form of the Ford Puma — modern technology sadly hasn’t quite made them a reality yet.  It’s still pretty cool, however. It’s a hidden storage solution found underneath the bonnet that adds an extra 68 litres of capacity to the car when fitted with a mild-hybrid powertrain.

What’s more, a plug located at the bottom of the Megabox allows water to be drained through — meaning you can store wet and muddy items or even hose down your shoes, dog or kids (ok maybe avoid the last one) in an easily-cleaned space.

Mild-hybrid powertrains for maximum efficiency

With EcoBoost engines onboard, the Ford Puma was already destined to be an efficient car, but Ford has taken things a step further here.

Opt for a mild-hybrid version of the crossover, and a 48v battery pack is paired to the 1.0-litre petrol engine. This allows the internal combustion unit to be switched off earlier when coming to a stop, cutting emissions and fuel consumption.

Massaging seats

Massaging seats are a rarity on cars beyond the luxury segments, but Ford’s Puma is one a of a few at the more attainable end of the market to boast the impressive feature.

Exclusive to more comfort-oriented Titanium models, these seats offer a relaxing massaging element from the lumbar section to bring a little more relaxation to the road.  Perfect for minimising backache on longer journeys, or just bringing a little lift to your day while commuting to work.

FordPass Connect

With FordPass Connect on board, the Puma is able to offer connectivity no matter where you are. It contains an in-car 4G WiFi hotspot that can support up to 10 devices at any one time, with packages available through Vodafone, as well as showing real-time traffic conditions for any road while adjusting navigation instructions to minimise disruption.

Ford’s eCall system is also included in the package, which adds an SOS button to easily contact emergency services in the event of an incident.

Digital display

Digital displays aren’t just limited to high-end sports cars and luxury SUVs, as proven by the Ford Puma.

It features a 12.3-inch screen in place of traditional dials and gauges in front of the driver, which provides an impressive level of clarity. It also has configurable elements, allowing the driver to prioritise what information is shown to them.
