Five-star crash rating for Suzuki Vitara

Five-star crash rating for Suzuki Vitara

The Suzuki Vitara has obtained five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests

If you’re considering buying an all-new Suzuki Vitara, you can now rest assured it has excellent safety credentials, thanks to it being given a coveted five-star crash test rating.

The results from Euro NCAP show the Vitara performed well across the board, with excellent scores of 89 per cent and 85 per cent for adult and child occupant protection respectively. Front and side airbags are fitted as standard.

You can also specify an autonomous emergency braking system, which can stop the car at low speeds to avoid a collision. However, as this is not standard, it was not taken into consideration by Euro NCAP.

Maximum points were scored in side impact tests and the front seats were seen to offer “good protection against whiplash injury”.

Mazda 2 and Fiat 500X

In recent tests the Mazda 2 supermini and Juke-rivalling Fiat 500X crossover also scored highly with four stars out of five, but failed to achieve top marks.

The Mazda 2 received 86 per cent for adult occupant protection, but its score was affected by the frontal impact test because neck protection was rated as “marginal”.

Fiat’s 500X also managed an 86 per cent score for adults, with 85 per cent for child occupants and 74 per cent for pedestrian safety.
