Santa might want to think twice about taking his sleigh out this year, as Ford has announced a new Ford Focus RS Red Edition in time for Christmas.

The Red Edition is a limited run production of only 300 cars. As well as the brilliant Race Red exterior, the special edition car has grey brake callipers, black alloy wheels and a contrast black roof, doors and rear spoiler.

It’s also been treated to a front mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential, giving even more traction. That means drivers can get the most from the 345bhp 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine and it’ll go from 0 to 62mph in 4.7 seconds.

Production will start in February 2018, which is bad news for Santa, and it’ll cost £32,295. However, it can be ordered from today.

The car has been developed by the top Ford Performance team, headed up in Europe by director Leo Roeks.

He said: “For hardcore driving enthusiasts, the additional mechanical grip offered by the Quaife LSD will make it even easier to carry speed through a corner on the track, and maximise acceleration on the way out. The new setup also delivers greater mechanical stability and control when braking hard, and will help drivers set the car up for power-slides using Drift Mode.

“The Focus RS Edition takes our ‘fun to drive’ philosophy to a new level for an everyday road car.”

The car also features the famous RS Drift Mode, which enables drivers to perform controlled drifts at the touch of a button, and Launch Control.
