Ford Focus RS races to 1,500 UK orders milestone

Ford has revealed that it has so far received 1,500 orders in the UK for its new Focus RS, ahead of the hot hatch’s launch in spring 2016.

Of all the UK orders placed so far, about a third are said to have been placed before the car’s pricing and specifications were announced during last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

It was confirmed in Frankfurt that the Ford Focus RS would be priced from £28,940. Approximately 1,000 orders from Britain have emerged since the car’s price was confirmed.

The chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain, Andy Barratt, commented: “These enthusiasts are taking great care in building their optimum specification.

“We expected those first in the queue, many of whom are owners of previous RS models, to be exacting about their requirements, and so it has proved, with many opting for motorsport-style Recaro shell front seats, 19-inch black forged alloy wheels, luxury pack, electric tilt/side sunroof and Ford SYNC2 navigation and sound system.”

Test drives have yet to take place for the new Ford Focus RS, but evidently a lot of hot hatch enthusiasts have already been persuaded by what they know so far about this car.

To build up more hype for the 345bhp, Ken Block-inspired Focus RS, Ford has begun releasing parts of its behind-the-scenes story about the creation of the all-new Focus RS. The documentary will be made up of eight parts in total and the first few parts are already available to watch on the Ford Performance YouTube channel.
