Ford is introducing a new, better-equipped trim level to replace Zetec, one of Ford’s best-known grades.
Expected to account for a quarter of Fiesta sales, the new Trend trim level will act as the new entry-level option, and is set to introduce more standard equipment.
Features on Trend-spec cars include 16-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, automatic headlights and an eight-inch touchscreen. The Fiesta also comes with ‘MyKey’, a secondary key that allows the owner of the car to limit settings such as speed and audio volume. The system is ideal for parents who have children that are new to driving.
The Trend model is offered in three- and five-door bodystyles, and solely with the 84bbhp 1.1-litre petrol engine.
Andy Barratt, Ford’s UK managing director, said: “Our new Fiesta Trend has stand-out appeal thanks to its looks and equipment. It has been designed with our value Fiesta shopper in mind and represents the package of styling and ease of use they require.”
This new grade means Fiesta prices now start at £15,995, which makes it slightly more expensive than the Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo.

It means Trend now sits under trim levels such as Titanium, ST-Line and Active. It replaces Zetec with immediate effect, and is therefore on sale now.
