Ford Kuga: Is this the best family SUV available?

The Kuga continues to be as popular as ever with UK buyers

Crossovers and SUVs are now hugely popular, and standing out from the crowd and appealing to buyers can be tough.

But throughout the generations, Ford has always managed to make its Kuga very enticing to buyers, and today it’s one of the best-selling models in its segment – not least to families.

Here’s why it’s one of the best family SUVs available.

Spacious boot

Spaciousness remains one of the most most important factors when it comes to a family car, and the Ford Kuga doesn’t disappoint.

With sliding rear seats on offer, the boot measures up to 526 litres in its most practical guise, though this can be increased to 1,534 litres with the rear seats folded.

It’ll keep you and your family safe

Safety remains paramount on a family car, and as the Kuga received a five-star rating from safety organisation Euro NCAP, this Ford will be a very secure choice for you and your family.

Particularly high scores were recorded in the adult and child occupant protection categories, while standard kit includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and post collision braking.

Range of powertrains are available

Few SUVs are available with the sheer variety of powertrains as the Ford Kuga, with buyers able to choose from petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models here.

As there is no ‘one size fits all’ in the family car world, it means there will be something to suit most here. If you’re able to plug in your car at home, the well-priced PHEV model could be especially efficient to run, thanks to a 35-mile electric range. That could ensure that the school run, for example, could be completed purely on electricity.

Affordable starting price (and good value to finance)

And if you’re thinking all of this means the Kuga is expensive, you’re likely to be pleasantly surprised, as with a £26,765 starting price, it represents good value for money next to rivals.

But likely more pleasing are the range of finance offers available on the Kuga. Offers available at the time of writing included zero per cent APR, which could see you get behind the wheel of a high-spec Titanium model from as little as £275 per month over a three-year contract, along with a customer deposit of £5,822.

Choice of trim levels to suit most budgets

From Zetec to high-spec Vignale versions, there is a Kuga model to suit the majority of buyers and budgets.

Though if you choose the entry-level Zetec version, you’ll still get treated to a long list of standard equipment, with highlights including a heated windscreen, keyless start and an eight-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation.
