Even in turbulent times, Ford continues to be the UK’s most popular car brand, with a range of fantastic products that offer plenty of appeal to buyers.
The firm’s increasing push towards efficiency has only added to the appeal, while a growing range of electrified options means there’s something to suit most.
But what new Fords are available in 2021 and what should you consider? Let’s take a look.
Fiesta – from £16,640
The Fiesta continues to be the UK’s best-selling new car, and it’s unsurprising given just how accomplished this supermini is. Offering a class-leading driving experience, great value and new efficient mild-hybrid petrol engines, it’s a brilliant all-rounder.
It’s one of the few superminis you can still buy as a three-door (a five-door is also available), while a range of derivatives broadens its appeal – including the upmarket Vignale and rugged Active models. A brilliant ST hot hatch appeals to those wanting to spice things up a bit.
Focus – from £22,210
Alongside the Fiesta, the Focus remains a hugely popular model in Ford’s range. It shares many attributes with its smaller sibling – including efficiency and a fun drive – but adds a little more practicality into the mix, and is a brilliant choice if you need something a bit roomier. A huge range of derivatives are on offer – including the brilliant ST hot hatch – while you can choose it as both a five-door hatchback, as well as a spacious Estate.
Mondeo – from £25,565
While not as popular as it once was, where spaciousness and value for money are concerned, the Mondeo remains hard to beat as a large family car. It’s available as a saloon, hatchback and estate too, meaning there’s a layout for all buyers. An efficient hybrid model is also on offer.
Ecosport – from £20,845
Ford’s most affordable crossover offers greater accessibility than a conventional hatchback, with a raised driving position that offers a great view of the road ahead. It comes very well-equipped as standard, while a new ‘Active’ model brings more rugged styling to this baby SUV.
Puma – from £22,040
Undoubtedly one of the best Fords on the market today, the Puma only arrived in showrooms at the start of 2020 but is already one of the UK’s most popular new cars. Offering efficiency, practicality and a great driving experience, it’s the model to beat in the compact SUV class. You can also choose a hot ST model, which shares an engine and underpinnings with the brilliant Fiesta ST.
Kuga – from £26,765
If you’re looking for an electrified family SUV, it’s hard to top the latest Ford Kuga, which is offered with a choice of mild-hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. But it’s also spacious, well-equipped and very good to drive – making it a solid all-rounder in this competitive class.
Mustang Mach-E – from £40,350
A brand new model to join the Ford range, the Mustang Mach-E is a hugely important model for this brand – not least because it’s the firm’s first bespoke EV. Offering new technology, strong performance and a range of nearly 380 miles, this is undoubtedly one of the most important new cars to join the market in 2021.
S-Max – from £31,320
The most desirable of all of Ford’s MPV models, the S-Max proves that you don’t have to sacrifice style or a good driving experience in the name of practicality. So while this seven-seater might not be quite as roomy as its larger Galaxy twin, you’re unlikely to complain when it comes to spaciousness.
Galaxy – from £33,720
The most spacious of Ford’s conventional MPV, the Galaxy offers seating for seven adults and it’s a little wonder it’s become such a popular choice with minicab fleets. With versatile seating and acres of room, it’s an immensely practical people carrier for all the family.
Tourneo Connect – from £22,912
The first of Ford’s van-based people movers, the Tourneo Connect is ideal if you want a spacious MPV but on a budget. Available with five or seven seats, Ford has also recently expanded the range with a new rugged ‘Active’ model that adds greater appeal here.
Tourneo Custom – from £38,963
The largest of all of Ford’s range, the Tourneo Custom is based on the brand’s best selling van – offering seating for up to nine adults, making this an ideal large family car. Another key thing to note about it is the fact it’s available as a plug-in hybrid – the only model in its class to be offered as this – and delivers a 35-mile electric range.
Mustang – from £39,420
Arguably the most exhilarating of all of Ford’s models, the Mustang is as iconic as cars come thanks to its cool muscle car styling and unmissable V8 engine under the bonnet. Both Fastback (coupe) and Convertible models are available, while a special-edition Bullitt model takes inspiration from the legendary film it shares a name with.
