Ford Ranger pick-up updated for 2019

Coming with a new engine line-up, the refreshed Ranger also features segment-first driver assistance systems.

Ford has taken the covers off its updated Ranger, which now comes with a new engine line-up and multiple safety accessories.

This new version of the pick-up will still be offered in Regular, Super and Double Cab body styles – while four-wheel drive now comes as standard.

The Ranger will also be fitted with Ford’s Sync3 infotainment system and the FordPass Connect service, which can help you keep track of the vehicle’s condition and also provide updated traffic information.

With the updated engine offering, Ford has replaced the formerly top-end 3.2-litre diesel with the smaller and more efficient twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel that develops 212bhp and 500Nm of torque – 13bhp and 30Nm more than the unit it replaces.

Two single-turbocharged versions of the 2.0-litre are also available, which develop 128bhp and 167bhp. All the engines are paired with a six-speed manual, while the 167bhp and 212bhp units can be teamed with the new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford has also fitted the Ranger with the latest safety systems, such as pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection and intelligent speed limiter – both of which are class firsts.

Also offered are active park assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping alert and assist, rear-view camera and keyless entry and start.

To distinguish it from the pre-facelifted version, Ford has revised the Ranger’s bumper designs and grille – while higher-spec models feature bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights.

Prices are yet to be announced, but Ford will offer the new Ranger from the middle of 2019.
