Ford, Skoda and Renault steal the headlines in latest Euro NCAP testing

Plenty of new vehicles have scored the maximum five-star rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP testing, including the new Ford Kuga, Skoda Octavia and Renault Captur.

Independent safety board Euro NCAP has posted its latest round of testing, with new models from Ford, Skoda and Renault taking top honours.

With the current generation of the Ford Kuga a popular choice amongst UK buyers, fans of the crossover will be happy to learn the upcoming new version of the car has scored a five-star rating.

Another Ford car scoring well is the latest Mondeo. Having been updated recently with standard-fit autonomous emergency braking, rear pre tensioners and load-limiters, the mid-size machine was also awarded five stars.

Skoda’s recently-revealed Octavia is another car taking the maximum rating, as did the all-new Renault Captur — due to arrive on the market imminently.

Two electric cars also scored top marks and show the myth that EVs aren’t a safe option is far from the truth. These are namely the hotly-anticipated Porsche Taycan and the latest version of the Tesla Model X.

Audi’s new Q7 took the maximum five stars too, along with Subaru’s Forester. The Peugeot 2008 equipped with an optional safety pack was also awarded top honours, though the standard version of the car had its score lowered to four as a result of lacking some assistance tech.

Minor upgrades to the Volkswagen Sharan and Seat Alhambra have kept these MPVs in the good eye of Euro NCAP too, both being awarded a four-star score respectively.
