Ford Telematics Essentials system helps to boost van fleet productivity

Connected service allows operators to see real-time information about their fleets.

A new telematics package by Ford will allow fleet operators to boost productivity by viewing real-time information about their fleets.

Called Ford Telematics Essentials, the software package is part of the firm’s FordLiive system and can deliver maintenance alerts based on real-time data. By doing so, it can help businesses limit the amount of time that their vehicles are off the road by improving servicing and repairs.

Available for fleets across the UK, Ford Telematics Essentials displays key details and maintenance alerts via a web-based interface.

“Introducing Ford Telematics Essentials is a major milestone in the delivery of our FORDLiive service and will help fleet customers maximise their productivity at no extra cost,” said Owen Gregory, director, commercial vehicle aftersales, Ford of Europe. “Having instant visibility of the health of every connected vehicle is a real game-changer, and promises to transform how businesses run and maintain their fleets.”

Fleet managers are able to see a summary of their entire fleet and even view information for each individual vehicle. As a well as the health status, the van’s mileage, oil life and engine hours are displayed. By checking this, operators are able to get one step ahead on maintenance and prevent any avoidable mechanical issues.

Real-time data is automatically transmitted from vehicles with the FordPass Connect modem enabled - a feature that has been made standard on many of Ford’s core commercial vehicles since 2019. These include the Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger.
