Heat wave buckles road and creates awesome jump

A stretch of motorway in Minnesota has buckled in the heat, leading to a makeshift ramp that has been sending cars airborne.

An extreme heat wave in Minnesota has caused a stretch of highway – or motorway for us on the other side of the pond – to warp and buckle, creating a bump in the road that has been sending cars airborne.

The stretch of road, which is on Highway 36 near Little Canada, can be seen launching cars into the air as they drive over a large bump created by the buckled tarmac, with some cars handling the airborne antics better than others.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has supplied footage of some of the unsuspecting drivers getting air in spectacular style, turning their daily commute into something more akin to The Dukes of Hazzard or a rally stage. Imagine having a hot coffee with you – ouch.
