Hennessey Performance is working on a 405bhp Ford Focus RS

Hennessey Performance, the American tuner responsible for what’s still the world’s fastest car, the Venom GT, has now turned its attention towards the new Ford Focus RS.

According to Hennessey, the hottest hatch of the moment is about to get even hotter with a target figure of as much as 405bhp, a full 60bhp gain over the standard car.

Exactly what the tuning company will do to the RS is yet unclear as the final product’s still in development, but upgrades will include a new ECU, a high-flow air filter and a new exhaust.

60bhp more than standard model

Those few parts alone will boost output and also raise torque to a whopping 576Nm, and there’s more to come with the likes of new induction systems and turbo upgrades in the works.

There’s no word on performance figures yet, but RS in its stock form can blast its way from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds and run on to 165mph, so expect Hennessey’s offering to be phenomenal.

For anybody who doesn’t want to wait though, Mountune already offers an upgrade package for the RS which boosts output to 370bhp and shaves 0.2 seconds off the 0-62mph sprint.
