Here’s the 2017 Jeep Compass SUV

Jeep has revealed its new-generation Compass, a mid-size SUV which is expected to arrive to the UK during the second half of next year. It will sit between the compact Renegade and larger Cherokee in Jeep’s line-up.

Set to rival the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga, the Jeep Compass sports a tough-looking design with chunky bumpers and side skirts, along with a distinct grille with a row of square chrome shapes. This grille design is reminiscent of both the Renegade and the Cherokee.

17 fuel efficient powertrain options

This is only the second generation of the Jeep Compass and will replace the first more than ten years after production for it began. The Compass has actually been absent from the UK market since 2015.

Not much else has been confirmed about the new Compass so far, but Jeep does add that the car “will be produced with 17 fuel-efficient powertrain options for customers in more than 100 countries around the world”.

"Best in class" off-roading

Judging by other Jeeps released in recent years, potential engines for the new Compass could include a 1.6-litre petrol unit and 2.2-litre diesel.

Jeep also says the Compass will offer “best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability” as well as “open-air freedom, and a host of safety and advanced technology offerings.”
