Honda to launch electric car in UK in 2018

Honda is reportedly working on a fully-electric car which will launch to markets across the globe in 2018. The electric Honda is expected to make its first public appearance this September at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

A second electric car from Honda, which will be marketed exclusively to China, is also believed to be in development.

While Honda has created quite a few alternative fuel vehicles in the past, including numerous hybrids and the hydrogen-fuelled Clarity, the Japanese manufacturer has shown little interest in purely electric models up until now. However, an electric version of the Honda Clarity (seen above) is coming to America, and now the brand is set to make something similar accessible across the world.

Few details have been confirmed about Honda’s electric production car yet, although it’s believed that it will use an all-new platform which Honda has built from the ground-up. The design language from the Japanese manufacturer will also reportedly be new and could set the tone for other electric cars and efficiency-focused vehicles from the brand in the future.

On a related note, Honda is also believed to be developing wireless charging technology and a new superfast charging system which would add 150 miles of travel to an electric car after just 15 minutes of charging.
