Hyundai adds new engine to i30 N Line range

Hyundai adds new engine to i30 N Line range

The 1.0-litre unit accounts for almost two-thirds of i30 sales, so makes sense to add it to the sporty version.

To increase the appeal of the sporty N Line range, Hyundai has added the i30’s most popular engine – the 1.0-litre T-GDi.

Developing 118bhp, the three-cylinder unit accounts for 65 per cent of all i30 sales and is being introduced to the mid-level trim alongside a six-speed manual transmission.

The petrol unit will act as the entry-level engine to the N Line range and can get the i30 from 0-60mph in 10.9 seconds – before reaching a top speed of 118mph.

Hyundai says the i30 N Line with this newly-introduced option will return 44.8mpg and emit 142g/km CO2 on the WLTP cycle.

Ashley Andrew, Hyundai Motor UK managing director, said: “With the identity of the N Line range already established in the i30 range, the introduction of the 1.0 120 PS engine is the natural next step.

“This engine accounts for over 65 per cent of petrol engine sales in the i30 range and with a clear market demand for smaller capacity engines combined with a sports focused trim, we have high expectations for this new N Line model.”
