Hyundai i10 named best car for training learners

The latest Hyundai i10 has been chosen by a panel of driving instructor experts as the best car for training new drivers. It has therefore been awarded the ‘Training Car of the Year 2015’ honour by the Driving Instructors Association (DIA).

Hyundai’s i10 city car, currently on sale from just £8,595, beat competition from larger segments above in order to receive this honour. This is just the latest in a batch of awards the latest i10 has received since it first went on sale in the UK just over a year ago.

The Driving Instructors Association praised the i10 for its interior quality, equipment levels and affordability. The chief executive of the DIA, Carly Brookfield, said: “Congratulations to Hyundai for winning the Top Car: Training Car of the Year 2015. As professional drivers, the car chosen is of vital importance to their work - not just for driving but also as a business asset.”

Meanwhile, the editor of Driving Instructor magazine, Simon Miller, commented: “Although this may be a surprising choice to some, the excellent value of the Hyundai, coupled with its handling and ride, makes it a sensible buy from a business perspective.”

To expand the appeal of its latest i10, Hyundai has announced a new range-topping trim level called Premium SE, which is available to order now. The Premium SE, priced from £11,995 when using a manual gearbox, adds new luxury kit on top of the previous range-topping Premium trim.

New features include 15-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel and a smart key with engine stop/start button. Last month, Hyundai made a space saver spare tyre a standard feature for new i10 models in the SE trim upwards.
