Hyundai has revealed pricing for the new i20 Active crossover, while the rest of the i20 range has also been updated for 2016.
i20 Active
The Active is based on the i20 supermini but adds chunkier, off-road-style bodywork and has a raised ride height (by 20mm), transforming the car into a crossover. Hyundai has now confirmed the new i20 Active will start from £15,225 when it goes on sale this March.
The Hyundai i20 Active will rival other small crossovers like the Nissan Juke and Ford Ecosport.
New body kit introduced by the Active includes skid plates at the front and rear, roof rails and extra cladding for the wheel arches.
Only one engine will be available for the i20 Active from launch, a 99bhp 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Hyundai says this engine will return 58.9mpg for the i20 Active, while CO2 emissions are recorded at 110g/km.
Standard kit for the i20 Active includes LED running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, DAB radio and rear parking sensors.
i20 range changes
Alongside the arrival of the new Active crossover, the regular i20 supermini has also received a raft of updates. The 99bhp 1.0-litre turbo engine featuring for the Active will also join the rest of the i20 range and replace the supermini’s 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol unit.
Available from £14,025, the new 1.0-litre unit adds £400 to the i20’s price compared to the engine it replaces but it’s more economical and will deliver cheaper Vehicle Excise Duty. It officially records 65.7mpg and emits just 99g/km in CO2.
The i20 Premium and Coupe Sport models also get a new 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol turbo with 118bhp, making it the most powerful engine to join the i20 line-up. With this unit the i20 starts from £15,525.
Other changes for the i20 range includes 16-inch alloy wheels and DAB radio for the SE trim, while TomTom Live Traffic updates join the Premium Nav, Premium SE Nav and Sport Nav trims.
