Hyundai has unveiled a sportier-looking N Line grade for its i20, which will be available to order at the start of next year.
Following the unveil of the third-generation i20 earlier this year, a new N Line trim will also be on offer. It’s the first time an i20 has been available in this sporty-looking grade, which is already available on other Hyundai models like the i10 city car, i30 hatchback and Tucson crossover.
Inspired by Hyundai’s hot ‘N’ range, this new i20 gets a sportier front end that includes a black grille and revised front bumpers, with the grille pattern said to mirror a chequered flag. It also gains a new rear bumper, triangle-shaped fog lights and a twin-exit exhaust system.
Dedicated two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels also appear, while it’s sold in the choice of four colours – Phantom Black, Polar White, Aurora Silver and Brass. If chosen in white, a black roof can also be specified.
In the cabin, the N Line is fitted with sports seats, along with a dedicated steering wheel, gear lever and metal pedals, while red accents appear throughout the cabin.
The N Line will be sold just with a new 118bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine, while the car in general has received suspension tweaks, revised responsiveness and a new exhaust sound for this sportier grade. The engine also comes with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, which is another first for the i20.
Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice president marketing and product at Hyundai Motor Europe, said: “With this new model, we are ensuring we can meet the needs of an even wider customer base by offering exclusive performance-styling inspired by our N brand to emphasise the motorsport roots of our brand.”
There’s no word on pricing for the N Line – or in fact the standard i20 – but further details are expected ahead of its launch in Spring next year.
