The Hyundai Ioniq has won the prize for Plug-In Hybrid Car of the Year 2019 at the Company Car Today Awards.
The plug-in version of the electrified hatchback was seen by the judges to be the best financial and environmentally beneficial option in the segment, as well as being very practical.
Fitted with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 44.5kW electric motor, the Ioniq Plug-In has 139bhp at its disposal and can also go 39 miles on electric power alone. The 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be charged up in just two hours 15 minutes.
The Ioniq Hybrid recently underwent a refresh, with the models now getting a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a ‘Green-Zone’ driving mode which switches the car’s power from petrol to electric in designated zones.
