Hyundai reveals specification for i30 N – prices start from £24,995

The South Korean brand’s first foray into the hot hatch market comes with two versions, including a Performance model

Hyundai’s first performance model – the i30 N – will have a starting price of £24,995 when the order books open later this year.

This is the first model from the ‘N’ range, which sees Hyundai enter the performance road car market for the first time. The i30 N comes following the brand’s improving form in motorsport categories such as touring cars and the World Rally Championship.

With the standard model coming with a 247bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, Hyundai will also be offering an i30 N Performance version, which has with an increased power output of 271bhp and a starting price of £27,995.

The Performance model gets from 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds, while the standard version is just 0.3 seconds slower to 60mph. Both have a top speed of 155mph, and come with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission.

Pirelli has engineered tyres specifically for the model and they are applied to 19-inch wheels. Large brake discs and N brake calipers create a lot of stopping power.

For the best on-track experience, the Performance model comes with a limited slip differential and variable exhaust valve system, which can be controlled with various driving modes.

Inside, it can come with a five- or eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display that has satellite navigation and performance statistics, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seat upholstery is in suede and leather.

Other features include LED lights, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist and speed limit warning, as well as high beam assist.

The i30 N will be available in six body colours, including the N-specific Performance Blue.
