Before its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai has previewed the next generation Santa Fe.

With it to be fully unveiled in February, only a side silhouette photo has been released and the design of the large SUV looks largely in-line with the Kona compact SUV that was released last year.

It has sharper lines, bold wheel arches and looks bulkier than the previous generation, which was released back in 2012.

This Santa Fe will also feature some of the latest safety features that Hyundai has developed, with all being classed under the Smart Sense package.

Plenty of systems will be on show at Geneva, such as the industry-first Rear Occupant Alert – that monitors the status of rear passengers and tells them if anyone is still there when leaving the car – and the Rear Cross Traffic alert that now incorporates autonomous emergency braking.

More details will be revealed on the vehicle following the full reveal next month.

The Santa Fe has been in production since 2001 and it has been the cornerstone of the Hyundai SUV line-up, which also includes the mid-size Tucson and compact Kona.
