Infiniti Q30 hatchback to launch in late 2015

The production version of the Infiniti Q30 hatchback has been confirmed to appear at this September's Frankfurt Motor Show, marking its public debut.

Infiniti has announced that its all-new Q30 hatchback will make its public debut in production form this September at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It will go on sale before the end of this year.

The Q30 represents Infiniti’s first entry into the premium compact hatchback segment of the car market. Very few details on the car have been confirmed so far, but its rival are easy to identify. It’ll pit itself against the likes of the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3, Mercedes A-Class, Lexus CT and Volkswagen Golf.

Infiniti showcased a concept of its Q30 back during the previous Frankfurt motor show in 2013. Nearly two whole years after that event, the car is now in the final stages of preparing for launch. Since last year, development of the Q30 has been undertaken at Infiniti’s Engineering Centre in Cranfield, Britain.

The Q30 will also be produced in Britain, at a plant in Sunderland run by Nissan - which owns the Infiniti brand. This will be the first Infiniti car built in Europe and it will eventually be joined on the production line by the company’s new compact crossover, the QX30 - which is based on the same platform as the Nissan Juke.

Production of the Infiniti Q30 and QX30 will lead to the creation of 300 jobs at the Nissan Sunderland car plant, which is already the biggest of its kind in Britain. The Infiniti models will take the total workforce to almost 6,800 employees.

More will be revealed on the Infiniti Q30 closer to the time of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
