Jaguar has unveiled the production version of the all-electric I-Pace SUV, which boasts a range of almost 300 miles.

Driven by an electric motor on each axle, the I-Pace is powered by a 90kWh Lithium-ion battery that delivers 394bhp and 696Nm of torque.

That means a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds, and when put up against one of the fastest electric cars in the world – the Tesla Model X – the I-Pace beat it in a drag race.

The battery can be charged from flat to 80 per cent full in just 80 minutes with a 50kW charger, and the I-Pace can be charged on 100kW fast charging systems which will get the battery up to 80 per cent in just 40 minutes.

A 7kW wall charger will fully rejuvenate the I-Pace in 10 hours – making it a great option for overnight fill-ups.

With all-wheel drive and a low centre of gravity – thanks to the placement of the battery in the chassis – the I-Pace also adopts configurable adaptive dynamics and the optional air suspension for a comfortable yet focused drive.

As seen with the concept model from 2016, the design is sleek and unlike any other SUV currently on sale, but it maintains the Jaguar grille and has a coupe look.

Inside, space is plentiful considering the car’s size – as there is no engine or transmission tunnel – with 656 litres of boot space and 1,453 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

To make it even more forward-looking Jaguar complete software updates needed for interior systems wirelessly, with that software used on the central touchscreen, touch-sensitive surfaces and instrument screen in the cockpit.

The smart satellite navigation installed calculates the most efficient route for the car so that the electric power can last longer.
