A year after the concept was revealed to the world, Jaguar is entering the final stages of testing for the I-Pace all-electric SUV.
The brand’s first EV will be going on sale in March 2018 when customers will be able to configure their new options.
To show just how far the I-Pace has come, Jaguar took it back to where the covers were taken off for the first time – Los Angeles.
In a drive from Sunset Boulevard in LA to Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, senior engineer Simon Patel took a prospective customer on a 200-mile drive to show off how close to production the I-Pace was.
Fitted with a lithium-ion battery setup, Jaguar says the I-Pace has more than 300 miles of range and the electric motor can produce 394bhp. That power is sent through all four wheels, with that equating to a 0-60mph time of roughly four seconds.
Ian Hoben, Jaguar vehicle line director, said: “After 1.5 million global test miles, the I-Pace is ready for production and is proven to deliver long distances on a single charge. Jaguar's first battery electric vehicle will also be fast to charge; our target is a zero to 80 per cent charge being achievable in a short break."
Customers can register their interest for the I-Pace now, with the reveal of the model likely to be in January 2018.
