Jeep opens ‘motel’ tent suspended on The O2 arena, powered by new PHEV

The new Renegade Motel is powered by Jeep’s new 4xe plug-in hybrid

Jeep has opened an ambitious ‘motel’ suspended on the side of London’s O2 arena, which gets its power from the firm’s new Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid.

Known as the ‘Renegade Motel’, Jeep calls it the world’s first urban cliff-camping staycation, which essentially sees a hanging tent fixed 70m above the ground on one of the yellow pylons on The O2.

Available for guests to book on September 18 and 19, the Motel offers dinner, bed and breakfast and 24-hour concierge, along with features inspired by the firm’s new plug-in hybrid Renegade – such as Amazon Alexa and a portable power supply, which gets its energy from the batteries of the car itself.

Damien Dally, country manager of Jeep UK, said; “Jeep has always been known as a brand that enables its drivers to fulfil their outdoor adventures. With the launch of our Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid we now have a car that makes urban exploring even more accessible. No Congestion Charge, no ULEZ, just adventure.

“By suspending the world’s first urban cliff camping Motel on The O2 roof, we’re giving Brits a unique opportunity to see and enjoy London from an exhilarating new vantage point.”

For those not keen on heights, Jeep has said it will roll out its ‘Roof Top Motels’ in various UK cities, which is where a TentBox pop-up tent fixed to the roof of the firm’s new PHEV – its first electrified model, which offers a 26-mile electric range.

The new Jeep Renegade 4xe is available to buy now, with prices starting from £32,600.
