Jeep Wrangler updated for 2021 with new special edition and personalisation

The brand’s rugged 4x4 also boasts additional safety technology

Jeep has announced revisions for its iconic Wrangler off-roader, which sees the addition of a new special edition marking the brand’s 80th birthday.

The Wrangler remains Jeep’s toughest 4x4 and a worthy ‘halo’ model for a brand heavily invested in off-roaders

Key to the 2021 model is a new 80th Anniversary special edition that marks eight decades since Jeep’s birth. It features a range of Neutral Grey styling details, along with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, as well as a body-coloured hardtop and a range of special badging. Inside, it benefits from black leather seats with contrast stitching and Berber floor mats, along with a nine-speaker Alpine sound system and an 8.l4-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and satellite navigation.

For the latest model year, the Wrangler is now only available with a single 268bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Jeep also says this engine has been tweaked for greater efficiency, with CO2 reductions of 10g/km compared to before.

More safety technology is also fitted as standard, including adaptive cruise control with stop and go, autonomous emergency braking and automatic high-beam assist.

Jeep has also enhanced the Wrangler’s off-roading capability with a new Selec-Speed function that’s essentially cruise control for off-roading, along with a new ‘Off-Road+’ mode – exclusively found on the Rubicon version – that is able to tune the chassis and powertrain for extreme driving on sand and rocks.

New colours such as Hydro Blue, Snazz berry and Sarge Green have also been introduced to expand the Wrangler’s already bold range of colours.

The latest Jeep Wrangler is now available to order, with prices starting from £49,450.
