Kia reveals new flagship Sorento in new design sketches

The new seven-seat SUV will be unveiled in full at the Geneva Motor Show

Kia has revealed the first full design sketches of its new Sorento – essentially revealing the car in full ahead of its 2020 Geneva Motor Show debut.

The new model’s design is a radical departure from the current model – adopting a new version of Kia’s ‘tiger nose’ front grille, as well as imposing L-shaped LED daytime running lights. Matrix LED headlights also look set to feature.

The rear is also rather different, too, with new vertical lights featuring in a way that’s similar to the US-only Kia Telluride SUV. The design sketches also reveal a much sleeker version than the existing car, which has been on sale since 2015.

Interior sketches have also been revealed, with a new digitalised cockpit set to feature including a large touchscreen and digital dials. A more minimalist design is also adopted, with fewer buttons and a new circular gear selector replacing a traditional shifter.

Kia has previously said that the new Sorento sits on a new platform, with its underpinnings also likely to feature in other SUVs from the South Korean manufacturer. The model is also set to raise the standard for practicality, and offer the spaciousness of larger models.

The fourth-generation Kia Sorento is being revealed in full at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3.
